Hey you lot! ^_^ I’m in a particularly cheery mood. But more on that in a minute–

So this morning I was very annoyed with the Earth’s rotation about its axis because it meant that dawn actually did come in Oxford all too soon! I was exhausted (I think seventeen-year-olds should be able to sleep in two more hours! ^_^) and hit snooze until 8:10 at which point I forced myself to get up and straighten my hair in a rush, throw on some clothes, and run to Pembroke for bus departure.

We went to Broughton Castle- I’ll upload pictures to Facebook soon- a place I had never been before! It’s a breathtaking manor but it’s called a castle because it has a moat (a pre-requisite). So Dad, I challenge you to dig a shallow ring around our house and fill it with water from the hose, so Schnauzer Territory can technically be a castle. ^_^ Yeah buddy.

But Broughton was not worth the trip unfortunately because it rained. Our day was booked so that we could tour the castle and then go gallivanting across the beautiful, endless fields or sprawl in the grass under a tree and leisurely read a book.

But as I say, it rained. After I toured the castle I was fortunate enough to get out of the wet and read indoors at a cafe in the grounds. Much to Oxbridge’s credit, they sped up the tours and put more groups together so that we were gone by 1:00 (huzzah!). On the journey to Broughton, I read my homework for Creative Writing, and on the way back I listened to my iPod… which is presently charging in Sarah’s room. ^_^

The rest of the day was devoted to developing my nonfiction essay for Creative Writing… and I decided there was nothing unethical about writing my University of Chicago supplement essay for the assignment. So I did! ^_^ And I’m quite excited to get Julie’s expert feedback. I won’t read it for the class though. ^_^

Right now, I’m not actually on my net-book. I’m at Benny’s, a conveniently positioned internet cafe next to G&D’s, by Pembroke. The internet’s much faster here, so much faster because the wireless signal in Oxford is so-so even for a company like Vodaphone.

I’m thrilled: I even did our laundry while Sarah took a nap because I’m awesome like that (and because I wanted fresh clothes for Ireland, and what is the point of not offering to do Sarah’s?).  I’m starting to wonder if Mom gets this thrill all of the time. If she does, I think it’s highly unethical for me to deprive her of it, so I promise she can wash ALL my clothes when I get home! ^_^ Yep.

Don’t get worried if I don’t post a lot in these last few days. The reason I had to do laundry today was because my schedule looks like this:

Tuesday: major, minor, rehearsal for the Creative Writing Showcase

Wednesday: major, minor, Creative Writing Showcase

Thursday: major, minor, Speech and Debate final (always fun to watch James Dray’s chickadees, and my friend Iason is presenting methinks), Drama production of Romeo and Juliet

Friday: major, packing, final diner, final dance

Saturday: waking up and getting a taxi to get to Oxford Station, going to Paddington to meet my Mommy! ^_^

Not a spare moment, I’m afraid, but I will try! Now it’s back to Oriel to sign in, to shower, and to get an early turn in! Cheers-

Laura <3

PS: Thanks again for all the lovely birthday wishes! Love you guys!
